Who Am I?

I have been teaching physics, musical acoustics, electronics and digital synthesis techniques at Skidmore College since 1992.

My primary interests are in music theory and its relation to atomic spectra.

This web site focuses on my project, Atom Tones. I have translated the bright lines appearing in each element’s atomic spectra into audible tones that are unique to each individual element. You can click on the links above to see some of the various projects that came from this.

The material on this website is freely available for use under a Creative Commons License, except for specific compositions that are copyrighted. Raw data and raw tones can be obtained by request.
